The Civility and Respect subcommittee develops solutions aligned with President Reif’s vision of respect toward all members of the MIT community. This subcommittee identifies disparities in the implementation of recommended Institute workplace policies and offers steps to remedy these disparities, in collaboration with Institute and DLC human resource representatives.
The subcommittee on Civility and Respect:
- Advances a high standard for workplace civility
- Supports MIT efforts to promote welcoming and equitable workplace cultures
- Offers training in conflict resolution, stress management, and self-compassion
- Takes a lead role in MIT efforts to embrace diversity and prevent bias
